What to Expect
The Internet can be a valuable tool for your business, especially when a
designer is willing to work with you closely and really determine your needs.
These are the steps I follow in developing a site for a client:
- Determine requirements - This is a fancy way of saying "you talk, I listen".
I let you tell me what you want your site to be, and what you want it to
do for your business.
- Basic layout and solution proposal - After determining your requirements,
your expectations, and your budget, I sketch out a basic layout, and determine
the most appropriate platform for your business (see "active vs. static
sites"). You then get the chance to see how well my ideas fit your business.
- Agreement on layout and functionality (and ongoing costs!) - Before proceeding
to construct your site, I'll make sure you're aware of any ongoing costs
it will take to maintain your site, and get your agreement on design.
- Site construction - ...and of course, you'll be able to review the work
as it goes on.
- Sign-off & commissioning - the exciting part: your new site is launched!
- Follow-up & "aftercare" - My reputation is built on my work, and this
is perhaps the most important part. Making sure your site continues to
work properly is a key part of my commitment to my clients.
